Privacy policy
Data controller
visitvosges.com is published on a personal basis by an independent private individual (see the Legal notice), with no affiliation to any public, territorial or regional body. For any question about your data: contact@cookiecat.fr.
This policy explains what data is processed when you use the Site, for what purpose, and how to exercise your rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Principle: data minimisation
The Site collects no personal data for commercial purposes and requires no sign-up, account or newsletter. The vast majority of features work without any data being sent to a server: your information stays in your browser.
Data stored in your browser
Two pieces of information are stored locally, on your device only: your cookie choice (consent banner) and the conversation history of the guidance assistant, kept for the duration of your visit. This data never leaves your browser and can be cleared at any time by clearing the Site’s data.
Geolocation (“Near me”)
The maps’ “Near me” feature uses your browser’s geolocation, only after your explicit consent. Your position is processed locally and in real time to show what is around you; it is neither sent to a server nor stored.
If precise browser geolocation fails, an optional fallback approximates your position from your IP address, via a third-party service (ipapi.co then ipwho.is). That service then receives your IP address to return an approximate location; the Site keeps no record of it. You can revoke geolocation permission at any time in your browser.
Third-party services and cookies
While browsing, third-party services may set cookies, subject to their own policies: Google Analytics (audience measurement), Google AdSense (advertising), Stay22 (accommodation comparator) and Google Maps (maps and routes opened via links).
Map tiles (Leaflet, OpenStreetMap, CARTO), administrative boundaries (geo.api.gouv.fr), weather (Open-Meteo) and images (Wikipedia/Wikimedia, Pexels) set no cookies. You can configure your browser to refuse cookies and manage Google ad preferences at adssettings.google.com.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. For locally stored data, you control it directly from your browser.
To exercise these rights or for any question: contact@cookiecat.fr. You may also lodge a complaint with the French data-protection authority (CNIL — www.cnil.fr).
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated to reflect changes to the Site or regulations. The version that applies is the one in force when you consult it.
