📍 Hunspach · Bas-Rhin (67)

In the far north of Alsace, in the Outre-Forêt, Hunspach lines up 18th- and 19th-century half-timbered houses, whitewashed with lime and topped with distinctive « broken-nose » roofs. On the oldest façades, the bulging windowpanes let residents see the street without being seen.

Listed among Les Plus Beaux Villages de France since 1985, the village is best enjoyed slowly on foot. A few kilometres away, the Schoenenbourg fort on the Maginot Line adds a chapter of 20th-century history to the day.
