As Christmas nears, the villages of the massif and neighbouring Alsace light up: wooden chalets, mulled wine, bredele and crafts create a magical atmosphere. On the Vosges side, Gérardmer and the valleys extend the magic of the great Alsatian markets, often in a snowy setting.
