📍 Strasbourg · Bas-Rhin (67)

Built mainly between the 12th and 15th centuries and completed in 1439, the cathedral was long the tallest building in Christendom. It stands on the Grande-Île, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Inside, don’t miss the astronomical clock, whose current mechanism dates from 1842, or the Angels’ Pillar. The climb to the platform, over 330 steps, rewards you with a panorama of the city and the Vosges.

💡 Good to know

Every day at around 12.30 pm the apostles parade on the astronomical clock; arrive early.
