At the heart of Strasbourg’s Grande-Île, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, La Petite France is a cluster of tall 16th- and 17th-century timber-framed houses. Their open lofts were once used by tanners to dry hides.
The Ponts Couverts and the panoramic terrace of the Barrage Vauban give the best views over the quarter. It is entirely pedestrianised and can be explored on foot or from the water on a boat trip along the Ill.

Strasbourg station is about ten minutes’ walk away; by tram, get off at Alt Winmärik or Faubourg National.
