Every spring, in April, the high meadows of the Vosges turn golden yellow: the bloom of wild daffodils (Narcissus pseudonarcissus). Gérardmer has made it its emblem with the Daffodil Festival and its flower floats every two years. A symbol of renewal and hope in the language of flowers, the daffodil thrives here on the cool, acidic mountain soils as the snow melts. A free natural spectacle — to admire without picking in protected areas.
