Photo: Pexels Lac de Bouzey is a reservoir of around 127 hectares, built in the 19th century to feed the Vosges Canal. It has two beaches lifeguarded in summer: the main south-facing one, with water and sand play areas and snack bars, and Mansuy beach, wilder and sheltered from the wind.
Motorboats are banned, making it a calm spot for sailing, kayaking or paddleboarding; the Cercle de Voile d’Épinal offers hire and courses. A path of about 7 km circles the lake. The site also remembers the 1895 dam failure, which claimed 87 lives in the Avière valley.
