See the place guide: Kaysersberg

Built around 1220 for an imperial bailiff of Frederick II, the castle closed off one of the routes across the Vosges to Lorraine. Its round keep, 11 m in diameter, is one of the first of its kind in the Upper Rhine valley.

Standing at 295 m, it rises some 50 m above the town. A few minutes’ climb from the centre brings a fine view over the rooftops and vines.

💡 Good to know

A short walk up from the old town; ideal combined with a visit to Kaysersberg.
